Childish Gambino The Conscious Tip

One of the many surprises of 2011 was the emergence of actor/comedian Donald Glover‘s Hip Hop alter ego Childish Gambino. I kind of blew over his debut EP and as a response he clearly proved me wrong on his debut album Camp. The project is a solid showing of his ability to keep listeners entertained throughout the entire listen. I can’t really compare one song to another, they’re all different. Gambino discusses his own personal experiences, especially race relations quite frequently. They range from a hilarious metaphors “eating oreos like these white girls that blow me” to a more serious subject “..so I could get in that white school, I hate it there, they all make fun of my clothes and want to touch my hair.” I’m sure there will be many who say this guy is corny but I’m feeling his music for being himself and setting himself apart from the status quo. I tip my hat to co-writer and co-producer Ludwig Göransson for working with Gambino in creating some dope beats on the album.   4/5

  1. Definitely was a good album. Production merged with the lyrics perfectly on every song.

  2. but there isn’t any originality in flow.
one song he’s weezy, next kanye.
