While I’m not surprised that Diddy is leading the Forbes list of wealthiest rappers, I am surprised that Kanye West is not amongst the Top 5 list that includes Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Birdman, and 50 Cent. Perhaps he isn’t “getting money” like I thought he was, or maybe he just isn’t involved in enough money making ventures. Diddy who has multiple ventures including Ciroc, Bad Boy, Sean John, Enyce, a a marketing firm called Blue Flame, along with a few more ventures is now currently worth $550 million. Surprisingly, music only accounts for about 10% of his profits…go figure. One thing I noticed however, is that the more money all these guys make, the less time they seem to invest into making “quality” music. Who will be the first Black millionaire? Who knows…but I know there’s plenty of kids out there struggling for scholarships, so it’d be nice if they would spread the wealth a little more.
