Amy Winehouse

I’m sure we’re all trying to focus on the positive impact that singer Amy Winehouse left with all of her fans, but for some, not knowing the official cause of her death has left many without closure. It was officially announced by her coroner, that Alcohol Poisoning was the cause of her death. While we’ve made jokes about celebrities going in and out of rehab, it’s no longer fun, or funny when it causes a death.  It makes me wonder if there’s something going on in this world of celebrities…drugs being a common denominator, often seems to be what they need to cope with their problems. Are we as fans putting too much pressure on them to stay successful? Or how about social media sites such as twitter where we make fun of celebrities such as Drake? I am in NO way saying this was the cause of her over-dosing, but just giving us something to think about. Read below what Amy Winehouse’s coroner had to say.

Her coroner, Suzanne Greenway, announced that the singer had 416 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, with the legal limit being 80 mg. Although the original autopsy was inconclusive, there were no illegal substances found in Winehouse’s system. From the beginning, many suspected that alcohol played a role in the death. Amy’s father Mitch had explained after his daughter’s passing that although she had overcome her drug addictions, she was still battling with severe alcoholism. She was 27 years old.
